We’d like to share a recent mission trip involving Jason Kauffman from our team at Scenic Ridge Company and his family, who were part of a 10 person team that traveled to Belize to serve through hands-on construction work.
From January 10–17, the team lived and worked alongside Ron and Linda Braaten of Oasis Ministries in Unitedville, Cayo, Belize. Ron and Linda have been serving the local community since relocating there in 2000.
In just one week, the team accomplished a great deal:
• Built a 16’ x 16’ home for a single mother and her three children
• Built an 8’ x 16’ lean-to for another single mother
• Installed eight windows in an existing home that previously had only two wall openings, improving airflow and security
• Removed unfinished house wrap on a 24’ section of an occupied home and installed a new screen wall for ventilation, along with metal siding below.
This trip was about coming alongside families, meeting practical needs, and helping create safer, healthier living spaces. There were even a few unexpected encounters along the way, including a scorpion and a tarantula… yikes! We’re truly thankful for Jason, his family, and the rest of the mission team for giving their time and skills to serve others.
