JD Eckman started as a small family-owned road construction company in 1945 and has grown to over 500 employees while still remaining family-owned and employee-focused. Originally founded by Jacob Eckman, later passed on to Jim Eckman, and now the 3rd generation; Mark, Michael, and Virginia Eckman are continuing the JD Eckman legacy today.
They are a full-service construction company, focused on Heavy Highway and Bridge Construction. With their own in-house engineering staff, project managers, and project engineers, JD Eckman has the expertise to handle the most complex projects. Their expertise in emergency bridge repair has created excellent working relationships with the state DOTs they work with.
The Scenic Ridge Company design-build team started planning this new maintenance shop in early 2020 and worked closely alongside JD Eckman the whole way through the detailed preconstruction phase. Building construction began in May 2021 and was completed in January 2022.
A well-planned maintenance shop like this one runs like a well-oiled machine! The main building shop is an economical 100’ x 248’ x 24’ high pre-engineered metal building, with a custom-designed front office & parts area. The shop has many great features including a large wash bay, exterior canopies, and concrete aprons, heavy-duty reinforced & hardened concrete floors, (2) 5T crane bays, a storage mezzanine, waste-oil fired in-floor radiant heat, large fans, and compressed air & lubrication systems.
